The Apophis asteroid currently has a 1-in-250,000 chance of impacting earth, but those odds aren’t good enough to convince the Russians that we are safe.  The Russian Space Agency announced that it would consider sending a spacecraft to redirect the asteroid’s path (I recommend sending Ben Affleck up there). 

It seems that the Russians are willing to take the threat of a planet-collider seriously, especially since they were portrayed in not one, but TWO summer blockbuster movies…from 1998: Deep Impact and Armaggedon.  Are Hollywood products still being delayed eleven years by Iron-Curtain-era policies?  In all fairness though, Apophis was not discovered until 2004, so the Russians were probably just looking for a target all these years.  We all know that NASA funding largely revolves around the search for “life” outside of earth, so this development must indicate that Russian space funding has ties to fulfilling fantasies put forth in Michael Bay movies. 

I find this particularly interesting given their complete lack of interest in the global warming agenda – one that was also featured in a Hollywood feature film (which was just as fictional as the asteroid movies).  What does this say about the “imminent danger” of global warming when the Russians are more concerned with an asteroid that has a 1-in-250,000 chance of hitting us in 30 years???  Sounds like an inconvenient truth…

#1 – When any government runs health care, long waits for care (if at all) are quick to follow and persist.

#2 – When any government runs health care, abortions will at some level be covered under the “plan.”

So…if the US Government health care plans are passed into law, could we not expect to see girls who want abortions having to wait for some beaurocrat to approve?  If a critical organ transplant or back surgery takes over 9 months, why not abortions?

What makes a person liberal-worthy?  Usually it has something to do with the high cost of keeping them in office.  Most people will realize soon enough that we cannot afford to have so many liberals controlling our national government, for instance.

So Starbucks is having a problem with their customers: fewer people think they can afford to drink the “small luxury.”  What’s the obvious solution?  Change your name (keep prices the same).  Oh, and sell beer – LOTS of beer.

A Starbucks store in Seattle is going to change their store name to 15th Avenue Coffee and Tea (and BEER) to shift focus away from the “premium” brand name.  It should work, because as we all know, people in Seattle have no problem supporting a candidate with a sophisticated label (and alcohol).

Nothing like a nice beer or wine first thing in the morning next to people drinking coffee.

Republicans should just borrow a page from the Texas Democrat Legislative Manual: run across the border and hope nothing can get done in their absence.  When it became apparent that a redistricting bill would pass the House and cost them Congressional seats, several Democrats fled to Ardmore, OK, in order to cause delays beyond legislative deadlines.  Everyone in the media thought it was cool and, since it appeared to be the only card left to play, a keen political strategy.

What would happen if all of the Republicans fled to…say, Canada?  Call it an inspection of government health care, or whatever.  Would Democrats circumvent quorum rules and continue ramming through 1000+ page bills without reading them?  Or, would they find themselves suddenly naked without political cover?  That’s all Republicans are to them anyway: a loin cloth to cover their shame.

In any case, it certainly wouldn’t make the Health Care Bills more likeable to the public – if anything, it would draw attention to the entire process.  Don’t think for a second that if roles were reversed we would not be seeing pictures of Democrats in Havana…

Here’s a question: Where ARE the grammar editors for this email that goes out to millions of people?  To be fair, later in the email the section was correctly stated “Where ARE these jobs,” but if I had a mass communication with millions of people I would certainly check my speeling and gramar.

What’s sad is the fact that my intelligence is more insulted by the content of the email; don’t you just love it when politicians say what their voters want to hear and then go to Washington and say little or nothing [or worse]?

Obama decided not to answer a question on the subject at his press conference with Medvedev recently because he had been “traveling” so much that he was not kept up to date on the topic (there was no teleprompter).

This is an opportunity for Obama to help the Chinese solve a problem – he just needs to get all those rioting muslims on a plane and drop them off on a tropical resort island after bribing the local authorities (note: don’t tell the national governing body).

Has anyone seen pictures of the rioting Uighars just in case they are wearing “Bermuda or Bust” shirts?

One day a man named Dan entered a city bus and sat down for the long commute home.  When he looked around he wondered why so many people had scowls of frustration on their faces, and he decided that it might be a good idea to ask someone as the drivers were making a routine shift change.

“So…what’s wrong?” He asked the fellow behind him.

“Don’t get me started!  That driver who is leaving is completely incompetant,” was the reply.

The bus then took off into the crowded traffic with a fresh, new driver.

“What exactly did the previous guy do?” Dan asked the disgruntled passenger.

“Well,” he said, “I didn’t like the way he drove the bus; always taking his time before changing lanes, mispronouncing street names here and there…”

The passengers all shook as the bus increased speed and began meandering through the mass of cars.

“…and he even missed a stop-making one person have to walk back a block to get to their home,” the passenger exclaimed.  “On top of that, he didn’t even apologize to the rest of the bus for being two minutes behind schedule!”

Dan’s attention then turned forward as the driver crossed a double-yellow line to pass a few cars – nearly hitting a truck head-on.

“Does this driver kinda scare you?” asked Dan.

“At least this driver respects our time enough to change up the pace and get us moving forward,” was the reply.

The bus then deliberately dashed into oncoming traffic, causing other drivers to swerve to avoid the large vehicle.

“uh…really, I think we need to get our driver’s attention-this is getting very dangerous,” Dan attempted to warn the passengers in his section.

Someone shouted “man, that previous driver ought to be fired for being so stupid – it was embarassing to be on this bus when he was in control-when he left we were three minutes behind schedule.”

Another said “I’m just glad I can stand up while the bus is moving fast on the freeway - this new guy doesn’t seem to care about my personal ‘liberties’ that as much as that idiot before!”

Finally, Dan took the issue himself and carefully approached the driver, who had so far managed to avoid a deadly head-on collision. 

“Excuse me, but what you are doing is very dangerous,” said Dan.

“That guy…uh…before me…uh…ruined the schedule of this bus, and I’mmm…uh…I’m…going to uh, to change that,” the driver remarked as he gazed out into mess of frantic cars trying to avoid him.

“Hey, that other guy may have been bad, but what you’re doing is FAR WORSE, and YOU are driving the bus-not HIM!” Dan exclaimed, using what little nerve of civility he had left.

“I am…fixing the problems that this…uh…this bus faced when…uh…when I…inherited it uh…from that uh, other driver annnnnnnd I’m…going to do what needs to be done.”

“Look, all the stops are on THAT side of the road-you’re not even following the route!”

“The route that other guy followed is what got us on this side of street.”

Horrified, Dan turned to his fellow passengers and begged, “does ANYONE else care about THIS driver and what he is doing RIGHT NOW?!?!”

“Hey, at least he pronounced that last street correctly before running the red light.”

I feel like this story explains what I see in less than half of our population**-they seem so fixated on hatred of George W. Bush that they are willingly blind and indifferent to the reality of our economic forecast after 7 months of ENTIRELY Democratic rule.  Biden and Obama want to cover their actions in the political fog of the blame game, and when Republicans and Conservatives agree with the “Bush’s Fault” premise in order to establish harmony they only make reality harder to find.  Blaming your failures as a leader on the other guy as your only response to problems is not the American Way!  How much longer will this Executive Branch use this premise as their POLICY???

Here is VP Joe Biden this week:

“The truth is, we and everyone else misread the economy”

(translation: “it’s not OUR fault-it’s EVERYONE’S fault)

“The truth is, there was a misreading of just how bad an economy we inherited”

A good follow-up question would have been: “Well, now that you know you misread, could you please elucidate us on the REAL state of the economy, and what you are going to be responsible for improving?

YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE of how when Republicans act irresponsibly, the media demands an apology; Democrats, however, are always, ALWAYS “deceived” or “mislead.”

Isn’t admitting that you were deceived over and over again evidence for foolishness?

Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me seven or more times, shame on everyone.

I will admit that I am relatively new on the politically-aware scene (about ten years), but when I watched my first White House Press conference many years ago I do recall wondering why they let that elderly woman sit on the front row and embarass herself with emotionally-charged questions that came across to me as early-to-mid signs of senility.  Robert Gibbs is going to need a physical exam to make sure his manhood is still intact after the beat down he received when trying to deceive Helen Thomas and the CBS dude over controlled questions and audience members of a TOWN HALL meeting.

For the first time that I can recall, Helen Thomas and others strongly expressed a position based on reason and the principle of a free press!  Some very dim light bulbs began to shine in that press room when it became completely transparent that Obama’s administration is not transparent.  The question is: How long will that dim bulb stay lit?
